The Azerbaijan Karate Federation is the only organization in the country that ensures the development of karate within a unified system. The Federation is recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and holds the status of the official representative of the World Karate Federation (WKF) on the international arena.
The Federation implements a structured development policy that covers all directions of karate. This policy aims to ensure the systematic development of karate nationwide, alignment with international standards, and the establishment of a unified governance mechanism.
The Azerbaijan Karate Federation (AKF) was formed as the legal successor of the Association (AKFA) operating since 1997. On 27 July 2023, the Association was renamed and registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the Azerbaijan Karate Federation.
Subsequently, to align with international institutional requirements, the Federation refined its official name and structure and was accredited through a relevant decision of the Collegium of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan. With this status, the Azerbaijan Karate Federation operates as the only officially recognized and accredited karate federation in the country.
Based on its unified system policy, the Azerbaijan Karate Federation ensures the sustainable development of karate in Azerbaijan. In full compliance with the state sports policy, the Federation aims to develop athletes who meet international standards and to represent the Azerbaijani flag with dignity in international arenas.
