The 27th National Championship in Fullcontact and Shinkyokushin Karate Has Been Held

On December 27, the 27th National Championship in Fullcontact and Shinkyokushin Karate was held at the Sərhədçi Sports Center, organized by the Azerbaijan Karate Federation.
The opening ceremony of the event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Fərid Qayıbov, the President of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation and Member of Parliament Ülvi Quliyev, members of parliament, federation officials, renowned athletes, representatives of the sports community, and other distinguished guests.
In his opening speech, Minister Fərid Qayıbov emphasized that the development of sports is one of the priority directions of state policy in Azerbaijan. He highlighted that hosting such prestigious competitions makes a significant contribution to improving athletes’ professional skills and encouraging youth participation in sports.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation, Ülvi Quliyev, stated that the systematic and sustainable development of sports in Azerbaijan has been made possible thanks to the special attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev. It was noted that as a result of the President’s support for sports, modern sports infrastructure has been established across the country, new sports facilities have been put into operation in the regions, and the social protection of athletes has been strengthened.
Ülvi Quliyev stressed that the attention shown by President Ilham Aliyev to athletes, including karate practitioners, motivates them to achieve high results in the international arena. Thanks to this care and support, Azerbaijani karate athletes successfully represent the country at World and European Championships, proudly raising the national flag. He also noted that presidential decrees and state programs in the field of sports play an important role in fostering patriotism and raising young people in a healthy spirit.
At the end of his speech, the President of the Federation expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the karate community to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for their continuous attention and support to sports, and especially highlighted the close cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Federation.
A total of 234 karate athletes competed in the championship. The winners and prizewinners were awarded diplomas and medals established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
