The Reporting Event of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation Dedicated to the Results of 2025 Was Held

The year 2025 was marked by significant achievements for Azerbaijani sports, including the karate community. During this period, the development of sports in the country continued consistently and purposefully as one of the priority directions of state policy, and the results achieved further strengthened Azerbaijan’s international sporting reputation.
At the reporting event of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation dedicated to the year’s results, Federation President Ulvi Guliyev stated that over the past year Azerbaijani karate athletes won a total of 209 medals at World and European Championships, international tournaments, and prestigious multi-sport competitions in sport karate (WKF), traditional karate, and contact karate disciplines, including Kyokushin (Kay) Senshi, Full Contact / Shinkyokushin, Ashihara, Fudokan, Shotokan, Goju-Ryu, Wado-Ryu, Shito-Ryu, Koshiki and Kudo. These results consisted of 76 gold, 46 silver and 82 bronze medals.
It was noted that a large share of these medals was achieved at competitions of the World Karate Federation, recognized by the International Olympic Committee and held within the Olympic framework. The national teams достойно represented the country at the III CIS Games, the Islamic Solidarity Games and other major international tournaments, raising the Azerbaijani flag high in international arenas.
Ulvi Guliyev emphasized the high organizational level of the III CIS Games held in Azerbaijan in 2025, noting that the opening and closing ceremonies met world standards. The results shown by our karate athletes at these prestigious competitions, as well as at the Islamic Solidarity Games, allowed 2025 to be assessed as a successful year for Azerbaijani karate.
Special attention was paid to the constant care and support of the state for sports, and it was stressed that the achievements are based on the consistent sports policy implemented under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. The selection of Baku as the world’s sports capital for 2026 was assessed as a clear indicator of the growing international sports prestige of the country.
During the event, members of the national team who distinguished themselves with high results in 2025, their coaches, referees, successful sports clubs, and media organizations that played an important role in promoting karate and informing the public were awarded with diplomas and prizes of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation.
The invaluable role of the media in the development of sports, in publicizing athletes’ achievements and in attracting the younger generation to sports was especially highlighted and highly appreciated.
It was also noted that with continued state support, the Azerbaijani karate family will successfully compete in international arenas in the future and that consistent, purposeful efforts to further enhance the country’s sporting glory will continue.
Prior to the reporting event, a meeting of the Board of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation was held. Reports on the work carried out in 2025 were presented by style leaders, relevant committees and the AKF Press and Technical Service, and the activities of structural units and key priorities for the coming period were discussed.
Within the framework of the event, the renewed official digital platform of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation was also presented. Built from scratch, fully integrated and adapted to international standards, this electronic system is a comprehensive ecosystem that unites all structures of the federation – management, board members, coaches, athletes, referees, clubs and competition organizers – in a single digital space.
Electronic licensing, QR-coded digital certificates, the “verify” verification mechanism, personal accounts, electronic document workflow, the “SmartArena” competition platform and a centralized database form the main pillars of this ecosystem. It was emphasized that the created software demonstrates that the Azerbaijan Karate Federation has formed an independent and sustainable development model based on its own national potential not only in sports, but also in digital governance and technological development.
