Ulvi Guliyev
Biography

Ulvi Zahid Guliyev was born on September 17, 1966, in Baku.

He graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Azerbaijan State Medical Institute and the Faculty of Law of Baku State University.

He began his career in 1988 and worked as a pharmacist, senior pharmacist and head of a pharmacy. Since 2002, he served as a department head at the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan; in 2005, he served as Deputy Director General of the “Gomrukchu” Sports and Health Center.

He is a European and World Champion in karate and holds the 8th Dan black belt.

He has been awarded the titles of Honored Master of Sports and Honored Coach; by Presidential Decree dated March 5, 2008, he was awarded the honorary title “Honored Figure of Physical Culture and Sports”.

He served as President of the Azerbaijan Karate-do Federation (1992–1997) and President of the Azerbaijan Karate-do Federations Association (AKFA) (1997–2023). Since 2023, he has been the President of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation (legal successor of AKFA) and a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF).

He served as a Member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th convocations. In 2018–2020, he was Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee of the Milli Majlis.

He is a member of the Health Committee and the Youth and Sports Committee.

He speaks Russian and English. Married, has two children.
